Spokn for Android released

Spokn for AndroidIt’s been in development for a long time and we’ve had helpful customers beta-testing this since the last few months and finally it’s ready.

Spokn for Android is our first mobile dialer to feature our O-VoIP technology (which means it works in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and other middle-eastern countries). Even better, the app supports calling via VoIP, Call-through and Callback mechanisms, so you will always have access to Spokn’s amazing rates to make calls even when you don’t have access to the Internet.

Spokn runs in the background so you can receive calls (even Collect calls) on the go. You can even send and receive VMSes to your phone book contacts or practically anyone.

Download it for free from the Android Market.

Hope you enjoy using Spokn for Android. Do let us know your feedback!

BlackBerry, Nokia and some relief

spokn-blackberry

With our uber-geek Farhan busy coordinating relief effort for the flood affected areas of Andhra Pradesh, we braved the inclement weather in Mumbai to get the BlackBerry app for Spokn out.

Due to the restrictions of the platform we cannot make a full fledged VoIP app like we have on the Windows Mobile. Even then, it’s a pretty nifty app that lets you make calls even when you’re on the road. It looks and works just like the standard BlackBerry phone application. The app shows recent calls, lets you search your address book and also type a number to make a call.

We’ve also got a new version of the Nokia app – it’s more user friendly than before. Like earlier, this is a Symbian certified application, recommended by an independent testing authority.

We’ll continue to make our clients simpler to use and more featured. Do let us know what you would like to have.

iPhone UI

iphone screens

Our iPhone prototype app still needs nice clothes. Thankfully, the iPhone has a rich and well thought out UI library. It’s far easier to sketch a UI for the iPhone than for platforms like Windows Mobile and Symbian. With the help of a Panaboard, we’re iterating through the Spokn app screens in no time.

And We Have Liftoff!

So we’ve got the alpha version of Spokn live. There’s still a long way to go to make the website more usable and informative. There’s also quite a few things broken in IE6 which we need to fix. We are rushing to get the new version of the Nokia Spokn app and the BlackBerry app out. Hopefully by the end of this week we should have both available for download.

We’ve got our ears to the ground listening for feedback from you. Let us know what you would like to see in Spokn.
